ISV questions

Do electric cars pay ISV in Portugal?
No. Fully electric cars are exempt from ISV in Portugal. Plug-in hybrids with at least 50 km of electric range pay only 25% of the standard ISV.
Is the calculator free to use?

Is the calculated amount the final price I'll pay?
No — it's an estimate. The final ISV is always calculated by the Portuguese Tax Authority at the DAV stage, based on the car's actual data, and may differ slightly from the estimate.
Once I know the ISV, how long until the car is legalised?
You have 20 business days after the car arrives in Portugal to settle the ISV via the DAV. Full legalisation — inspection, IMT homologation and plates — typically takes another 5 to 10 business days.
